Biography

Levente Bubreg

Levente Bubreg grew up in an Austrian-Hungarian family of musicians in Reutte, Tyrol, the youngest of four siblings. He was eight when he began the bassoon with Manuel Lämmle at the music school Reutte-Außerfern, where he also learned wind orchestra conducting. Since 2019 he has studied with Daniele Muleri at the Tyrolean State Conservatory in Innsbruck, in its precollege since 2022, and since 2024 also with Prof. Dag Jensen in the precollege of the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich. Masterclasses and lessons have brought him together with Carlo Colombo, Sophie Dervaux, Michael Werba, Štěpán Turnovský and Richard Galler, among others.

He made his solo debut at the age of eleven with the StringSZ Orchestra in the Silbersaal in Schwaz. Since then he has won prizes in Austria and abroad, among them the Rotary Music Prize, the Ignaz Pleyel Prize of the ISA International Summer Academy, the title of Absolute Winner at the Premio Crescendo competition in Italy and several first prizes and federal titles at Prima la Musica. In 2025 the Wiener Symphoniker gave him their WSY Talent award; in the same year he became federal winner at Prima la Musica again and reached the semifinal of Concertino Praga.

As a soloist he has performed with the Wiener Kammerorchester, the Wiener Symphoniker and the Orchestra Accademia d’Archi Arrigoni at the Altolivenza Festival in Italy. He made his debut at the Wiener Konzerthaus in the Musica Juventutis series and has also played at the Dvořák Festival at the Rudolfinum in Prague, in the Austrian Parliament and in a recital at the Teatro l’Affratellamento in Florence.

He has gained orchestral experience in the Verbier Festival Junior Orchestra in Switzerland, the Camerata Prima Wien – a selection orchestra under the patronage of the Vienna Philharmonic – and the Wiener Jeunesse Orchester, as well as at the Summer Academy of the Vienna Philharmonic at the Salzburg Festival, with the Orchestra Academy Tyrol at the Festspielhaus Erl and in the Alpe Adria Youth Symphony Orchestra.

Chamber music has been part of his life from the start. With his siblings Sara, Bence and Márton he plays in the Bubreg Quartett, which won first prize in the chamber music category of the Werner Pirchner Prize in 2026. He is also a member of the Trio d’anche MODERN, the Ensemble BubReg-Time and the Trio Infernale, and plays in the Symphonic Wind Orchestra Tyrol.
